Iran organizing cartoon festival on Noruz

TEHRAN -- Iran’s Cartoon House is organizing the first cartoon festival on the Persian New Year under the title “Noruz in Iran”.
 
Noruz, the ancient celebration of the Iranian New Year that begins on the first day of spring, was registered on UNESCO’s List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity in 2009.
 
The festival has been arranged with the aim of reviewing one of the Iranian people’s great celebrations from the viewpoints of the cartoonists, Head of the Iran’s Cartoon House Masud Shojaii Tabatabaii told the Persian service of MNA on Wednesday.
 
“Islamic Awakening” and “Year of Economic Jihad” are the other two side sections of the festival, he said.
 
Each artist is asked to submit maximum five works to the secretariat of the festival before March 5.
 
The first winner will receive a cash prize, a diploma and a statuette from the festival.
